Bill Proposes Tax Reform Plan
Bill Corrigan Announces
Tax Reform Plan
Second Major Policy Announcement Focuses on Taxpayer Protection
St. Louis County - St. Louis County Executive Candidate Bill Corrigan released his Tax Reform Plan this morning, days after property tax bills hit St. Louis County mailboxes.
“Unfair taxes are crippling the St. Louis County economy, halting growth, limiting prosperity and punishing taxpayers,” Corrigan said. “Tens of thousands have lost their jobs, businesses are leaving the County and families are struggling.”
Two months ago, Corrigan announced his first major policy initiative, a comprehensive Code of Ethics to reform county government and restore the people’s trust and confidence in their government. (Corrigan’s code of ethics, which he will implement on his first day in office, is available online at here)
Corrigan is aggressively attacking the issues that face County residents when it comes to the over burdensome and arduous tax system in St. Louis County. “Families across the County are working harder than ever to feed their children and keep a roof over their heads. The last thing citizens need is a government that continues to reach into their pockets for burdensome and unfair taxes. It’s time for government to demonstrate the same restraint on taxes and spending that citizens are.”
“Charlie Dooley has offered few solutions and no leadership on tax reform to help St. Louis County families. Instead, during his two terms in office, Dooley has worked to raise taxes and overseen a broken and unfair tax system,” Corrigan said. “St. Louis County taxpayers deserve solutions, leadership and a real vision from their County Executive.”
